Music is a big factor in making the illusion of the film come to life, making the audience not only see the film, but feel it with their emotions. You can take almost any film sequence and by changing the music you can transform the emotion and feelings engendered by it, even changing the impact of a sequence entirely. Music can enhance in other more mechanical ways such as setting pace, character identification, deceiving the audience or creating tension but it is the emotional quality of music which best enhances a film.
This half day practical workshop will look at the role of music in film, video and television and is suitable for media studies and music teachers and their pupils at KS3 & KS4. The workshop will look at how important and powerful music can be to the moving image. It can involve using Adobe Premiere Pro to edit stock video and video FX to an existing piece of music, edit library music and sound FX to a short video clip, create a music video and offer advice on how to plan, film and edit a music video.
